What’s going on with me?
Feeling frustrated… losing confidence.
Not performing consistently. Nervous?
Feel as if you’re going to fail and let your teammates down or yourself?
Something must change.
The Power of Thought and Belief
What you think and believe are your most powerful assets…
… and it’s what separates average from great athletes.
The combination of talent, hard work, and determination… combined with superior mental toughness… is what will consistently place you in the winner’s circle.
Sports Performance Mental Training
Build mental toughness: “By working on my mental toughness and emotional intelligence, it has helped me maintain my composure under stress and has helped me to improve my athletic performance.”
Let go of the fear of failure: “I was able to overcome my fears, motivated to work harder, and helped me believe in myself.”
Consistent performance: “By doing the homework and working through the challenges in session, I was able to increase my mental clarity, increase my confidence, and increase my motivation which in turn helped me achieve higher levels of performance, consistently.”
Smart goal setting: “I not only realize but achieve my full potential in every area of my life.”
Perfectionism: “I always felt like I had to be perfect. It was driving me crazy. I’m now able to keep that in check.”
Overcome emotional barriers: “Before the game, I would be a wreck emotionally – and it was horrible. I can now get my emotions under control and focus on playing my best from the beginning to the end.”
Bounce back from injury: “I broke my foot and had to set on the bench for most of the season. I got so down on myself it was hard to get motivated to play the following year. I now understand what was going on in my head and am able to refocus my energy.”
In addition, we may explore and address challenges in these areas:
- high expectations
- optimal concentration
- superior confidence
- need for approval
- improving self-acceptance
- pregame preparation
- pregame jitters
- improve teamwork
- team communication
Making a plan and getting to work…
We will meet and evaluate what you want to address and make a plan.
You will complete homework assignments between sessions aimed at sharpening your mental edge (from Dr. Cohen’s “Peak Performance Mental Game Strategies,” a proven successful coaching model).
At the beginning of each session, we will evaluate the progress of your assignments and discuss what is and isn’t working.
Coaching… or therapy?
Coaching and therapy are different.
Coaching aims to help you identify your goals; achieve them; and develop consistent, constructive skills and habits. Coaching sessions focus on the present and the future – and are usually shorter in duration than therapy sessions.
In many cases, coaching can be therapeutic, but it is not therapy.
Therapy, on the other hand, targets psychological issues. Sessions focus primarily on the past in order to address current challenges.
At our first session, we’ll determine whether coaching or therapy better suits your particular needs.
